The Fourth Revelation

CHAPTER 12

After this I saw in my contemplation the body bleeding profusely from the scourging. It was like this: the fair skin was broken with deep wounds in the tender flesh with vicious strikes all over the sweet body. So freely did the hot blood flow that you could see neither skin nor wound, for there was only blood. And when it came to the place where it should have spilled down, then it vanished. Nevertheless, the bleeding continued awhile, until it could be seen and considered. And the blood was so plentiful to my sight, that I thought that if it had been real and actually happening, then it would have covered my bed in blood, and spilled all around.

And then it came to my mind that out of his tender love for us, and for our help and bodily comfort, God has given us plentiful water on earth; but that he prefers us to take his blessed blood to wash ourselves quite naturally of sin. There is no liquid made that he prefers to give us, for it is as plentiful as it is precious, and all by virtue of his blessed Godhead. It is our birthright, and blissfully belongs to us by the virtue of his precious love.

Truly, the dear blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is as precious as it is plentiful. Behold and see! The precious plenty of his dear blood poured down into hell and burst her bands, delivering all that were there who belonged to the court of heaven. The precious plenty of his dear blood flows over all the earth, and is ready to wash the sin of all creatures of goodwill, both those who have been, and those yet to come. This same precious plenty of his dear blood then ascends up into heaven to the blessed body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and there is in him, bleeding and praying for us to the Father. And there it remains for as long as it is needed, and ever shall be for as long as it needed. It flows for evermore throughout the heavens, enjoying the salvation of all humankind who are there, and who shall be there, fulfilling the number in heaven.
