The housebud is away.
A friend arrives from Kalamazoo.
The kids arrive from across town, bearing laundry, again. The wife and the kids catch up on some developments. There are always developments. The kids eat snacks, leave for a meeting. The kids return with more kids. The kids leave again because now there are no snacks. Three of the kids return to finish the laundry. It is now well past midnight. Kalamazoo friend and the wife are in the big bed catching up. The remaining kids come in and perform T-Pain’s “Buy U a Drank,” in its entirety, with choreography, before they leave.
She has been wondering what her life is going to be, post-marriage. Her husband moved out a year ago. She’s been living in NYC with her bud for most of that year, house mom for most of that year. She still doesn’t know where she’ll be sleeping at the end of the year. She’ll be sleeping in the apartment or she won’t. She’ll be sleeping in her own house or she won’t. She thought she was going to be sleeping next to the same person forever and she isn’t. This is what her life is right now.
