Appendix two

CAPTURED JET AND ROCKET AIRCRAFT REMOVED BY THE ALLIES

This list refers only to the jet and rocket-powered aircraft, which are listed by the country which first removed them and by type. Not all of these aircraft necessarily came from Germany itself as some were removed from other areas under German occupation. The aircraft listed here were taken as complete airframes and were mostly airworthy, although in many cases there is conflicting information regarding particular aircraft or a confusion of identities, and as a result there may be some duplication in this list. In a surprisingly large number of cases the fate of the aircraft is not known as many were discarded or scrapped after the war. In the UK Air Ministry (Air Min) numbers were allocated to most flyable aircraft, but not to every one for a variety of reasons. The Americans applied their own FE numbers for ‘Foreign Aircraft’.
