I’m Telling You

She and the kid are out shopping again; the kid needs some socks. The kid says thank you often, and I’m sorry way more than anyone ever should. Everyone in her life tries to help her understand the difference between when to apologize and when there’s not one thing to apologize for. Today she’s thanking the wife for going shopping with her.

You mean so much to me. So much. You’re like a sister and an aunt and a mom all together.

She tells the kid she loves her, again, that she’d do anything she could for her.

You know, I thought it was my husband who didn’t think I’d be a good mom. But it was me. It was me. It was never him. I read it in my journal.

The kid grabs her by both arms, stops her in the middle of the store.

I’m telling you right now. I’m telling you. You’re an amazing mom.
