According to the Urantia Revelation, Christ Michael is the Creator and Father of our local universe which, when fully evolved, will contain up to ten million inhabited planets. He is also known to us as the historical person Jesus Christ who incarnated here on Urantia—our planet Earth. In partnership with the Mother Spirit, who is his Deity equal, Michael ministers from on high to each of us, his children on Earth. The reality of a Deity partnership involving Christ is a new revelation to our world.
The divine affection of Michael and Mother for us is typified (1) in the fact that Michael incarnated in the likeness of one of us, (2) by ongoing revelations of the “divine word” such as the UB, and (3) by the ministrations to us of the vast angelic host created by Mother Spirit.
Somewhat similar to traditional Christianity, The Urantia Book offers a Trinitarian theology of Father, Son, and Spirit, but it updates these ancient concepts by providing unprecedented detail in the context of a modern scientific cosmology (see chapter 2). The Eternal Trinity manifests in our local evolving universe through Christ Michael and Mother Spirit, who are Deity partners in the mission of representing the Trinity in space-time. We are told that this divine pair perfectly depicts to our local universe the essence of the eternal Deities that they represent.
Michael is the direct and replete personalization of God the Father and the Eternal Son (the first and second Persons of the Trinity) to this local universe. As explained in the Urantia text in Paper 34:
The Creator Sons of the Paradise order of Michael are the makers and rulers of the local universes of time and space. These universe creators and sovereigns are of origin in the Father and Son but each is unique in nature and personality. Each is the “only begotten Son.”
In addition, we are told in this Paper that the Infinite Spirit—the third Person of the Trinity—personalized as the Mother Spirit for our segment of the universe. We also learn of our “encircuitment” through the Mother Spirit’s Holy Spirit and through Christ Michael’s Spirit of Truth.
A Mother Spirit does not and cannot incarnate in the flesh in the likeness of one of her human children, but Christ Michael actually has this singular function as a phase of his mercy ministry to inhabited planets. In his incarnation experiences he always manifests the infinite love and divine power of the Eternal Son in perfection. However, he is not the Eternal Son of the Trinity asserted in Christian doctrine. In fact, he is of origin from the Father and the Eternal Son.
In the final analysis, we can say that the founders of the Christian Church were correct about the spiritual relationships of the Trinity but never envisioned the complex factual reality of Trinity manifestations in the space-and-time universes that would be revealed centuries later in the UB.
