Socio-Economic Classification of Interviewees

All 124 interviewees in Novorossiisk have been included in the statistics analysed throughout the book. During the interview process it was sometimes necessary to estimate the age of respondents. Some are mentioned by real name or position in the text. In the following list of those individual interviewees mentioned by pseudonym, socio-economic class is based on the National Readership Survey categories commonly used in market research, with an expansion of group E (the unemployed) to distinguish between students (E1), housewives (E2), and retired persons (E3). In this latter category the previous class, where known, is included in brackets.
