Worked on new forward trenches during night (10/7). To G sector (12/7). An interesting report by 2nd Lieutenant Rawlinson tells of a patrol of four men led by him during night of (14/7). Being attacked by a German raiding party seeking unit identification, 2 men were taken prisoner and another that was killed had his shoulder straps cut off. The officer, lying wounded and pretending to be dead, had his revolver taken and his pockets searched. To bivouacs between Couin and St. Léger (16/7), Bouzincourt (huts in orchards on west side of village) via Authie, Bus-lès-Artois, Bertrancourt, Forceville and Hédauville (17/7). For operations between Pozières and Ovillers, moved forward through Albert (18/7) and took up assembly positions just outside of town. Attack (19/7) ô lost direction. Casualities – 100.
