American Armoured Car. 6 wheels, mounting a 37mm gun. 4 crew, max speed 56 mph.

German for Armour (Eg Tank). Panzergrenadier being mechanized infantry.

PURPLE HEART

American medal (Award) for being wounded in action.

REGT

Regiment United States (Approx 3118 men)

SHERMAN

M4 standard American tank used by every Allied nation. Crew of 5, with a speed of 24 – 29 mph. There were many different variants, but most were armed with either a 75mm or 76mm gun.

STURMGESCHÜTZ

German self-propelled 75mm/105mm assault gun. Crew of 4, Usually arranged in assault gun battalions, each with 3 batteries containing 6 vehicles. But these were later enlarged into army assault artillery brigades, with anything up to 45 assault guns and a small infantry component.

TD

Tank destroyer. (Either the self-propelled type, as in the M10 tank destroyer, this mounted a 3 inch gun, had a max speed of 30 mph with a crew of 5. Or the towed type, which was a 3 inch field gun, drawn by a vehicle.

VGD

Volksgrenadier Division. Came into being late in the war. Made up of Naval/Airforce fillers mixed with regular army. (A match for any Allied division).

GMC cargo truck. A general utility truck that was the workhorse of the American army.

88

German 88mm gun, much feared by the Allies. It was mounted on Tiger tanks, or as a field piece in either the ground or anti-aircraft role.
